The Cosine & Inverse Cosine Functions
by Mike Martin

On this page, you can vary the graphing bounds for plotting the cosine function and its inverse.   Once the bounds are set you can plot both functions and the identity line, y = x.   Enter in the bounds for the x-variable and then the bounds for the y-variable are the same as those for the x-variable.

The cosine and inverse cosine (or arccosine) may be written as

f ( x ) = cos (x)     with     f -1 ( x ) = arccos (x)

Alternatively,

g ( x ) = arccos (x)     with     g-1 ( x ) = cos (x)

Select the plotting bounds, then press the "Evaluate" button.

  ≤   x   ≤
